World – Business Analyst tops Hays’ list of most in-demand tech jobs

The demand for tech jobs is seeing a shift in hiring trends across the globe, from hard skills in technology to roles more focused on managing projects and providing analysis on business trends, according to Hays.

James Milligan, global head of Technology Solutions at Hays says that organisations have had time to stabilise and assess their needs for the future as digital infrastructure increased immensely in the last three years.

“While organisations have had time to adapt to change, transformation is still happening and the people to oversee this process are still required,” said Milligan.

Hays’ list for the top ten in-demand tech jobs are:

1. Business Analyst – According to Hays, even if candidates don’t have formal qualifications, organisations are hiring people with experience in gathering requirements and spotting trends.

2. Project Manager – Project managers has moved down a spot from last year, but Hays said this position is still proving popular or businesses roll out their digital transformation.

3. .NET Developer – Specific to programming for Microsoft Windows, Hays reports this position went up a spot from last year. If you’re able to code for apps and other software with languages such as C# or VB.NET, then there are roles available.

4. Data Analyst – “Data analysts take the information provided by engineers to solve problems and help deliver insights,” noted Hays, adding that there are learning opportunities available as demand outweigh supply.

5. Java Developer – According to Hays, candidates proficient in Java will have a range of opportunities in 2023, whether at a start-up or multinational company.

6. Software Engineer – Software engineers design and create a range of systems and applications for organisations.

7. Data Engineer – This role entails building systems to compile data and provide analytics to the right people in business.

8. DevOps Engineer – Hays noted that DevOps Engineers have a broader remit than in many tech jobs, working with developers and operations in building and deploying new releases.

9. Scrum Master – Scrum Masters must be able to identify the team’s needs and communicate effectively to facilitate wider success, according to Hays.

10. Change Manager – “With strong communication skills and track record of delivering change, these people will oversee the project methodology mostly related to digital transformation,” said Hays.
