Vietnam – Companies struggle to hire ecommerce talent (VNExpress)

26 April 2021

The rate of companies in Vietnam with employees specialising in ecommerce has fallen by 7% since 2017, indicating a difficulty in finding talent amid the online sales boom, reports VNExpress, citing a report by the Vietnam E-commerce Association. Nearly a quarter, or 23% of companies had employees exclusively for ecommerce work last year, compared to 30% three years earlier. The ratio of companies reporting difficulties in finding e-commerce and IT employees had risen from 28% in 2018 to 32% last year. Over the past three years, more businesses have been facing difficulties in recruiting skilled workers in e-commerce and IT," the report said, adding that more training in these areas is needed in upcoming years. Recruitment firms, such as Navigos, have also reported the same challenges. Nguyen Thi Thu Giang, senior team manager at Navigos Search Hanoi, said the boom in e-commerce in the last two years has opened up a gap between supply and demand of labour in this field.
