Tech Mahindra buys BPO provider serving Australian telecom firm

IT services giant Tech Mahindra Ltd. (TECHM:NSI) acquired Orchid Cybertech Services Inc., according to a regulatory filing in India. Orchid Cybertech provides business process outsourcing, including customer experience-related services, to TPG Telecom, a large telecom provider based in Australia. Orchid Cybertech is based in the Philippines. TPG’s brand include Vodafone, a mobile phone provider; TPG, a broadband provider; and iiNet, which also provides broadband.

“Tech Mahindra has long standing relationship with TPG Telecom,” the Mumbai, India-based company said in a press release. “This deal further strengthens the relationship with TPG and aids in expanding existing customer experience capabilities and business in the Philippines.”

Tech Mahindra is paying AUD 5 million (USD 3.3 million) for the firm. The all-cash deal was for a 100% stake. It closed 20 February.

Orchid Cybertech posted turnover of USD 37.3 million in its 2023 fiscal year and had approximately 2,950 full-time employees.
