Taiwan – Seasonally adjusted unemployment rate improves in April

Taiwan’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate declined to 3.68% in April 2022 from 3.71% in April 2021, according to data from the Directorate General of Budget Accounting and Statistics.

When compared to the previous month, the unemployment rate declined by 0.02%.

The number of unemployed persons was 429,000 in April, a decrease of 6,000 (-1.39%) and 6,000 (-1.42%) from the previous month and that of the previous year, respectively.

Total employment decreased by 25,000 (-0.22%) in April to 11.41 million. It also decreased by 109,000 (-0.95%) when compared with that of the previous year.

When compared with that of the previous year, employment in agriculture, the industry sector and the services sector decreased by 13,000 (-2.39%), 40,000 (-0.98%) and 57,000 (-0.81%) in April, respectively.

The country’s labour force participation rate declined by 0.03% to 59.16% in April; however, it rose by 0.01% from that of the previous year.
