Taiwan – Seasonally adjusted unemployment rate falls in April

Taiwan’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate declined to 3.71% in April 2021 from 4.10% in April 2020, according to data from the Directorate General of Budget Accounting and Statistics.

When compared to the previous month, the unemployment rate declined by 0.01%.

Total employment increased by 57,000 (+0.50%) when compared to the same period last year. Total employment increased by 3,000 (+0.02%) month-on-month, in April to a total of 11.52 million.

Compared with the previous year, employment in agriculture and the good-producing sector decreased by 3,000 (-0.57%) and 1,000 (-0.02%), respectively; by contrast, the services-providing sector increased by 62,000 (+0.90%) in April.

Taiwan’s labour force participation rate rose by 0.01% to 59.15% in April; moreover, it also rose by 0.09% from that of the previous year.
