View All NewsSeek job ads across Australia tumble 20% in November with declines across most states
Job ads on Australian job board Seek were 20.2% lower year-on-year in November across Australia.
On a monthly basis, job ad volumes fell 4.3% in November. Job ads were also 13.6% higher compared to November 2019. Applications per job ad rose 2.9% from the month prior.
Kendra Banks, Managing Director, Seek ANZ, said, “Since peaking mid last year, job ads have moderated, but remain above pre-pandemic levels. A fall in job ads in November is to be expected as hiring winds down, but the fact that job ads are still over 13% higher than November 2019 shows demand for workers is strong, despite the trend in most industries this year.”
By state, Victoria reported the steepest decline over the year (-27.7%) while job ads in New South Wales also recorded a decrease of 26.8%. On the other hand, Tasmania reported a slight increase of 0.3%.
On a monthly basis, apart from South Australia (0.2%), job ads in all states as well as the Northern Territory fell. New South Wales (-7.1%) dropped the most, followed by Victoria (-6.3%).
