Taiwan’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 3.41% in October 2023, down from 3.64% in October 2022, according to data from the Directorate General of Budget Accounting and Statistics (DGBAS).
On a non-seasonally adjusted basis, compared with the previous year, the unemployment rate declined by 0.21% to 3.43% in October. Month-on-month, the unemployment rate declined by 0.05%.
Taiwan’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 3.40% in December 2023, down from 3.61% in December 2022, according to data from the Directorate General of Budget Accounting and Statistics.
When compared to the prior month, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose by 0.03% to 3.40%.
On a non-seasonally adjusted basis, when compared with that of the previous year, the unemployment rate declined by 0.19% in December. Month-on-month, the unemployment rate declined by 0.01% to 3.33% in December.
Total employment increased over the month by 6,000 (0.05%) in December 2023 to 11,583,000; moreover, it also increased by 132,000 (1.15%) when compared with that of the previous year.
When compared with that of the previous year, employment in agriculture sector decreased by 26,000 (-5.03%); however, the industry and the services sectors increased by 4,000 (0.11%) and 154,000 (2.24%), respectively.
The country’s labour force participation rate remained at 59.26% in December over the month; however, it rose by 0.09% from that of the previous year.
