People on the move: Ministry of Manpower Singapore, Charterhouse Asia

Melissa Khoo, currently deputy secretary (higher education and skills), ministry of education in Singapore, will be concurrently appointed as chief executive officer (Designate) of the Central Provident Fund Board on 1 September 2023. She will relinquish her role at the ministry of education and succeed current CEO Augustin Lee as CPF Board’s CEO on 1 October 2023. The Central Provident Fund is Singapore’s saving and pension plan.

From 1 August 2023, Augustin Lee, CEO of the CPF Board, will be concurrently appointed as Second Permanent Secretary (Designate), Smart Nation and Digital Government Group (SNDGG). He will take on the appointment of second permanent secretary (SNDGG) from 1 October 2023.

Ng Chee Khern, Permanent Secretary (Manpower), said, “The Ministry of Manpower would like to express its deepest appreciation to Augustin for his strong leadership of the CPF Board over the past four years. Under Augustin, the CPF Board has scaled new heights in areas such as government grant disbursement, insurance administration and customer service. Augustin has made continual improvements to digitalise CPF services, bringing greater convenience and efficiency to CPF members. Trust in the CPF system has increased under Augustin, as evidenced by increases in the participation rate in voluntary CPF schemes.”

The Ministry also announced Desmond Lee, minister for national development and the minister-in-charge of social services integration has succeeded deputy prime minister and minister for finance Lawrence Wong as chairman of the Singapore Labour Foundation (SLF) Board with effect from 1 August 2023.

Wong was appointed SLF Chairman on 9 June 2018. During his term, Wong played a key role in steering the strategic direction of SLF and sharpening its focus on its core role to support the development of the labour movement and enhance the lives of working people in Singapore. Under

“The Ministry of Manpower would like to express its deep appreciation to DPM Wong for his significant contributions to the SLF over the years, and is confident that SLF will continue to enhance support for the local workforce and further strengthen industrial relations under the leadership of Minister Lee,” the Ministry stated.

Charterhouse Asia

Charterhouse Asia, an executive search firm, has announced the appointment of Tiffany Wong, who has joined its Hong Kong office as the new managing director. She will be responsible for executing Charterhouse Hong Kong’s sales strategy and servicing clients in Hong Kong. Wong has over 20 years of recruitment experience; over 17 years of which has been focused in Hong Kong and Southern China.

In her previous employment, she worked her way up from consultant at Robert Walters to her final role with the company as director, commerce. Charterhouse Asia has offices in Australasia, Europe and the Middle East. It offers professional and bespoke contingency and retained search services across a variety of industrial sectors.
