Job ads on job board Seek New Zealand climbed by 16% in October 2022 when compared to October 2021.

When compared to September 2022, job ads fell by 1%. Applications per job ad rose by 6% in October 2022.

Seek’s data also found that by region, year-on-year growth was led by Taranaki (37%) while on the other hand Gisborne reported the biggest decline over the year at -20%.

On a monthly basis, Marlborough reported an increase of 11% in October while Gisborne also reported the biggest decline at -16%.

By industry, hospitality and tourism reported a 166% year-on-year increase in October 2022. Construction and ICT both reported a 10% year-on-year decrease.

On a monthly basis, hospitality and tourism as well as construction both fell at 6% in October. The manufacturing, transport and logistics sector rose by 1%.
