Most New Zealanders check work emails during holidays

19 March 2024

More than half of New Zealanders (66%) regularly or occasionally checked their work emails during their annual leave, reports Newshub, citing research from Robert Walters. Shay Peters, Robert Walters CEO, Australia and New Zealand, said there is a combination of reasons for people to keep in touch with work during much-needed rest and relaxation time. For some people, it is to avoid coming back to heaps of emails and catching up on what they missed after the holiday. For others, accessibility may play a factor.

Meanwhile, further data from Robert Walters showed that 30% of respondents said they didn't feel refreshed after taking annual leave, 29% said they felt completely refreshed, and 42% said they were "somewhat" refreshed.
