Online recruitment in Malaysia increased by 27% in August 2021 when compared to August 2020, according to data from the Monster Employment Index (MEI).

The Monster Employment Index (MEI) moved to 57 in August 2021 from 45 in August 2020.

Monthly job demand remained flat with recruitment activity stabilising month on month.

In August 2021, all 9 industries monitored by the Index witnessed increases in e-recruitment activity annually.

IT, Telecom/ISP, BPO/ITES (BPO IT enabled-services) saw an increase of 124%, year on year, followed by Logistic, Courier/ Freight/ Transportation, Shipping/ Marine (+73%) and Retail (+50%). These are all industries which saw the steepest incline in online recruitment activity in August 2021 from the year-ago level.

Meanwhile, the Hospitality industry (+5%) recorded single digit growth.
