Japanese firms agree to record wage increase, union says

Japanese labor union group Rengo confirmed that firms in the country have agreed to a pay rise of 5.25% this year, Reuters reported. That is the largest rise under comparable data since 2013. Results of the negotiations are announced in stages with blue-chip firms the first to finish with talks. Further results will be released on 4 April and 18 April. Analysts had expected a pay rise of around 4%.
