Japan – Media Five revenue down slightly as it reports losses

Media Five (3824: JP), a Japanese firm that provides engineers to the IT industry, reported revenue yesterday today for the nine months ended 28 February 2020 of JPY 1.13 billion (USD 10.3 million), down 0.7% compared to last year.

Media Five operates two primary business segments: Business-to-Business, which includes the company’s staffing operations; and Business-to-Consumer, which involves software and project development. In addition to those businesses, Media Five also operates a construction business.

The group said its results for the nine-months period was negatively impacted by the pandemic. The group added that it is expanding its IT engineer training as an investment, actively hiring inexperienced people and new graduates, and focusing on training.

Looking ahead, the company forecasted revenue of JPY 1.46 billion (USD 13.33 million) for the year ended May 2021.

Shares in Media Five closed at JPY 799.00 (USD 7.30), down 0.1% on the day. The company has a market cap of JPY 787.81 million (USD 7.19 million).
