Japan – Average hourly wage for part-time workers up 2.6%, Dip Corp finds

The average hourly wage for part-time workers in Japan stood at JPY 1,230 (USD 9.20) in February 2023, up 2.6% from the same period last year and steady from the previous month, according to data released by Dip Corp. (2379:TYO), a staffing firm and job board operator based in Tokyo. The data is taken from job postings on the Baitoru part-time job information website.

By region, the average hourly wage in the Kanto area is JPY 1,276 (USD 9.55) (up JPY 57 (USD 0.43) from the previous year, up JPY 9 (USD 0.067) from the previous month). The average hourly wage in the Tokai area is JPY 1,206 (USD 9.02) (up JPY 51 (USD 0.38) from the previous year, down JPY 1 (USD 0.0075) from the previous month). The average hourly wage in the Kyushu area was JPY 1,131 (USD 8.46) (down JPY 15 (USD 0.11) year-on-year and down JPY 30 (USD 0.22) month-on-month).

Average hourly wages by job category increased year-on-year in six out of nine job categories.

Earlier this year, Dip Corp. reported revenue for the third quarter ended 30 November 2022 of JPY 12.89 billion (USD 98.6 million), up 23.4% over the year.
