06 April 2021

The Japanese subsidiary of The Adecco Group announced it was chosen by Nagano Prefecture in Japan to operate an emergency employment support desk to help people who lost their jobs due to the Covid-19 crisis find employment.

Statistics from Nagano Prefecture show the number of employees leaving firms because of decisions by business owners rose by 32.3% in 2020 to 6,296, according to Adecco. In addition, the number of individuals receiving unemployment benefits rose by 36.0% to 107,717 in 2020 from 79,247 in 2019.

On the flip side, companies in the prefecture continue to have difficulties hiring workers, with approximately 36.0% of companies in Nagano Prefecture reporting insufficient full-time employees, according to Adecco.

Adecco noted it has a track record of running businesses contracted out by government agencies.

Last month, Adecco also announced it had a deal with Nagano Prefecture to support matching workers with jobs in agriculture.
