India – Staffing firms say 5G push will create 45,000 jobs in next two quarters (The Economic Times)

11 October 2022

The roll out of 5G services by Indian telecom service providers is expected to create a demand of up to 45,000 jobs over the next two quarters, The Economic Times report, citing a number of staffing firms. The anticipation of the roll out of 5G has already resulted in nearly 80,000 5G-related hiring this calendar year, the firms’ estimates added.

"The increase in demand for 5G-related tech talent is also coming from industries like healthcare, retail, manufacturing, and auto," said Sachin Alug, chief executive at staffing firm NLB Services. "There has been a 15-20% quarter-on-quarter rise in overall hiring focused on 5G. He added that a majority of demand is from telecom companies.

Sanjay Shetty, director, professional search and selection and strategic accounts at Randstad India, said, “We estimate that the 5G roll out will create around 35,000 to 45,000 new vacancies.”
