India – Most freelancers optimistic about growing global demand from SMBs (Financial Express)

A majority, 66%, of freelancers in India , are optimistic about growing global demand from SMBs (small and midsize businesses), reports the Financial Express, citing a survey by SMB digital payments company Payoneer. Freelancers in India anticipated more than 50% growth in their businesses, recognising the escalating global demand for freelancers. The key areas of work for Indian freelancers were web and graphic design, IT and content writing.

According to the survey, the demand for freelance work remained highly resilient in the face of economic slowdown fears, with 46% of freelancers seeing an increase in demand and 29% reporting no change. Most survey respondents, 70%, reported working exclusively as freelancers, with 48% dedicating 30 hours or fewer per week to their work.
