Over half, or 59%, of companies in India are intending to give salary increments to their employees in 2021 as the economy moves to a recovery path amid the pandemic, reports the Business Standard, citing data from staffing firm Genius Consultants. The planned salary increments will range between 5%-10% whereas 20% of companies say salary hikes will be less than 5% and around 21% think that there will be no pay rise in 2021. The study also found that around 43% of the participants have said there are openings for new recruitments while 41% have indicated towards replacement hiring, however 11% of the respondents said there is ‘no hope’ for new hiring. In terms of downsizing, 4% of respondents said lay-offs are on the cards in 2021. The study further points that junior levels are more susceptible than middle and senior management people.
