India – Majority of employees say work-related stress causes anxiety and depression (India Today Online)

The majority, or 77%, of workers across India said that work-related stress can cause sadness and anxiety, which has negative impacts on the mental health of employees and decreases productivity, reports India Today Online, citing a study by Genius Consultants. While 77% said work-related stress can cause sadness and anxiety, , 14% were neutral about this and 9% completely rejected the idea. The study also showed that 82% of participants said conditions like immune system illnesses, digestive problems, and musculoskeletal disorders are directly related to work-related stress, while 14% remained neutral and the remaining 7% denied any connection.

The study also found that 73% of those surveyed suggested taking a nap in the middle of the workday as a creative way to reduce workplace stress. Nevertheless, 18% of the respondents weren't sure about this, and 9% didn't agree. Another recommendation was to cut back on working hours, which was supported by 68% of participants, while 18% were neutral and 14% disagree.
