India – ‘Hiring will not be impacted by any new Covid-19 variant’, most India Inc. execs say (LiveMint)

As Covid-19 cases continue to decline in India, a majority of India Inc's (India’s formal work sector) executives believe hiring will not be slowed down due to any new Covid-19 variants or further waves, reports LiveMint, citing a survey by Genius Consultants. The survey found 73% respondents strongly believe that the new wave wouldn’t have an adverse impact on the hiring trends across sectors. The survey was done among 1,468 c-Suite executives and employees online across several sectors. The survey further also found that over 69% of respondents are not anticipating rise in job insecurity with the advent of the new variant. The remaining fear that state-imposed restrictions and lockdowns could again halt businesses and possibly could result in salary cuts and layoffs. Furthermore, over 82% respondents fear that the rising cases would cause substantial losses to the hospitality industry which has been slowly recovering.
