Hiring activity in India jumped by 31% in February 2022 when compared to February 2021, according to the latest Naukri JobSpeak Index.

The number of job postings in February 2022 stood at 3,074 on the Naukri platform, compared to 2,356 in the same month of the previous year.

Naukri noted hiring activity was highest in the insurance sector (74%), followed by retail (64%). Sectors such as the IT-software/software services (41%), banking/financial services (35%), pharma (34%), hospitality (41%) and telecom (23%) also reported growth.

Meanwhile, the medical/healthcare (7%) and Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (4%) sectors reported slight growth in hiring activity compared with the year-ago period.

Among metro cities, Kolkata reported a year-on-year increase of 56% followed by Bengaluru (49%), Mumbai (45%), Chennai (45%), Hyderabad (43%), Pune (41%) and Delhi (30%). Among non-metro cities, Coimbatore reported growth of 57%, the highest among non-metro cities.

Among demand experience bands, demand for mid to senior experienced professionals belonging to the 13-16 years category reported the highest growth at over 35%. The demand for professionals in 8-12 years (31%), 0-3 years (30%), 4-7 years (30%) and above 16 years (27%) category also remained strong.
