Australian job ads down 14.9% in March

Australian job ads on job board Seek fell by 14.9% in March 2024 when compared to March 2023.

On a month-on-month basis, job ads increased by 2.4% in March 2024. At the same time, applications per job ad rose by 1.7%.

By industry, the ICT sector saw the steepest annual decline at 26.9%. This was followed by the hospitality and tourism sector (-20.1%).

On a monthly basis, the steepest fall was in the hospitality and tourism sector (-0.6%). On the other hand, the ICT sector saw the highest monthly increase at 5.1%.

Further monthly figures by Seek showed that the Australian Capital Territory saw the highest increase at 7.7%. This was followed by the Northern Territory (4.2%).

Year-on-year data showed that the state of Victoria saw the steepest fall at 21.6%. New South Wales followed with a drop of 20.5%. The Northern Territory reported an increase of 2.5%.
