Australia – Job adverts up in January: Seek

Job ads on job board Seek Australia were up 4.9% in January 2022 when compared to December 2021. When compared to January 2021, job ads soared by 39.6%.

When compared to January 2019, job ads increased by 36.6%.

Meanwhile, applications per job ad rose by 5.7% over the month, however when compared to January 2019, applications per job ad fell by 50%.

The Australian state of Victoria reported a year-on-year increase in job ads of 46.6%. This was followed by New South Wales (44.5%) and Queensland (37.5%).

When compared to January 2019, Western Australia reported the biggest gain with an increase of 75.2% On a month-on-month basis, Western Australia reported an increase of 5.5%.

By industry, the Education and Training industry reported the biggest year-on-year increase across Australia in January with a job ad increase of 59.6%. Over the month, the biggest increase was seen in Trades and Services. When compared to January 2019, the biggest increase was seen Community Services and Development which reported an increase of 100.0%.
