Australia – Job ads rise but applications fall: Seek

Job ads on job board Seek Australia registered an increase of 32.2% in March 2022 when compared to March 2021 and rose 50.7% when compared to March 2019.

On a monthly basis, job ads on Seek rose by 5.0%. Applications per job ad fell by 4.5% over the month.

Seek’s application per job ad data for February showed a 42.2% decrease when compared to February 2019.

By state, Victoria showed a 38.7% increase in job ads in March 2022 when compared to March 2021. New South Wales saw a 35.2% while Queensland reported an increase of 32.0%.

When compared to March 2019, Tasmania reported an increase of 88.4% while South Australia reported an increase of 77.1%.

By industry, the Hospitality and Tourism industry registered an increase of 47.2% over the year while Education and Training increased by 46.9%.

When compared to March 2019, the Hospitality and Tourism industry reported an increase of 160.2% while Community Services and Development industry saw an increase of 105.7%. On a monthly basis, the Hospitality and Tourism industry also led the way with an increase of 16.7%.
