Australia – Freelancer acquires Spanish freelance platform

24 March 2015

Australian freelance platform Freelancer (FLN: ASX) today announced that it has acquired the assets of Spanish job board and freelance platform Projectlinkr.com.

Projectlinkr is reported to be one of the leading online job marketplaces in Spain and one of the leading freelance platforms in Latin America. Through the acquisition, Freelancer will be adding nearly 140,000 new Spanish-speaking users to its brand.

This latest buy marks Freelancer’s second acquisition so far this year, following the acquisition of Israeli freelance platform DoNanza earlier this month.

The acquisition will be funded from the company’s existing cash reserves and is not expected to have a material impact on revenue in FY15.

Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Investors failed to respond positively to the announcement, with the company’s share price closing down 5% at AUD 1.05 (USD 0.82), a decrease of 36.4% compared with a year ago. Based on its current share price, the company has a market value of AUD 459.4 million (USD 359.1 million).
