Asia Pacific – Taiwan dispatches delegation with the aim of recruiting IT talent from Singapore and Malaysia

15 September 2022

Taiwan’s National Development Council organised a delegation to visit Singapore and Malaysia with the aim of recruiting 60,000 foreign professionals by 2030, and to promote the employment gold card system.

During its trip, the delegation held a number of job fairs which were attended by executives from semiconductor companies along with IT startups. Taiwanese delegates provided information on the Employment Gold Card system and employment prospects with students and professionals from the National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University and Universiti Malaya.

Vice Chairman You Jianhua said, “In 2018, the government implemented the ‘Law on the Recruitment and Employment of Foreign Professionals’ to promote the employment gold card system. At present, nearly 6,000 employment gold cards have been issued, and cardholders can freely enter and exit, search for jobs, work or investments, or you can live in Taiwan directly without finding a job. It is recommended that outstanding talents from Singapore and Malaysia make good use of the employment gold card system and come to Taiwan to find opportunities.”

The Council also signed a memorandum of understanding with the Federation of Alumni Associations of Taiwanese Universities to strengthen the circulation and exchange of talents between the two countries and promote the recruitment and retention of students and professional talents.
