General Motors struggling to hire temporary workers (GM Authority)

Automaker General Motors is having a tough time finding temporary workers for jobs at its Flint Assembly plant in Michigan and its Fort Wayne Assembly plant in Indiana, GM Authority reported citing a news story by The Detroit Free Press. “We’re looking to hire temps like crazy, we just can’t get them,” UAW Local 2209 Shop Chairman Rich Letourneau told the newspaper. Letourneau and another union leader said GM might consider doing away with mandatory marijuana drug testing in order to hire more workers. Recreational use of marijuana among adults 21 and older is legal in Michigan, while it remains illegal in Indiana.
