Court postpones Renault hearing over use of temps

21 March 2024

A court hearing over concerns that automaker Renault used an excessive number of temporary workers at its plant in Sandouville, France, has been postponed to 9 October, 76Actu reported. Concerns at the plant began with the CGT union, then the labor inspectorate was brought in followed by the public prosecutor. When contacted by 76Actu, Renault said it would not comment on the current legal case. The story is written in French.

The union alleges that, at one time, 90% of certain production positions were filled by temporary workers and that, today, 28% of the Sandouville site is staffed by temporary workers. In France, temporary workers can be provided in situations where there is a temporary increase in work but cannot be used for normal and permanent activity.
