ASGN exec promoted to company president, other leadership changes announced

ASGN Inc. (NYSE: ASGN) promoted Rand Blazer to president of ASGN from his former role as president of its Apex Systems LLC division. Blazer has taken on the president role from CEO Ted Hanson, who had served as both president and CEO. Hanson will continue serving as CEO.

Blazer had been at Apex Systems for 17 years, having joined its board of advisors in January 2005. He became chief operating officer in February 2007. ASGN acquired Apex in 2012.

ASGN — a large provider of IT, marketing/creative and life sciences staffing — also announced several other executive promotions:

  • Sean Casey, COO at Apex Systems, has been promoted to president of Apex.
  • Matt Riley, COO at ASGN’s Creative Circle marketing/creative staffing division, has been promoted to president of Creative Circle.
  • John Heneghan, COO of ECS, ASGN’s federal division, has been promoted to president of ECS.

The company also noted that Shane Lamb will continue in his position as president of CyberCoders Inc., a provider of IT staffing.

In addition, George Wilson has retired as president of ECS, effective Monday. Wilson will remain as an executive advisor for three months to assist with the transition of Heneghan to the president role.

ASGN ranks as the second-largest IT staffing firm in the US and ranks as the second-largest marketing/creative staffing provider in the US as well as the third-largest life sciences staffing provider, according to SIA data. ASGN is also included among the largest US finance/accounting staffing companies. Its ECS business is focused on serving the federal government.
