IT services giant Wipro Ltd. (NYSE: WIT) named Thierry Delaporte as CEO and managing director, effective July 6. Delaporte will be based in Paris and report to Wipro Chairman Rishad Premji.

Delaporte had previously served as chief operating officer of the Capgemini Group and as a member of Capgemini’s executive board.

Wipro’s current CEO, Abidali Neemuchwala, will step down on June 1. However, Premji will oversee the day-to-day operations of the company until July 5. Neemuchwala previously announced his resignation citing family commitments.

“Thierry has an exceptional leadership track record, strong international exposure, deep strategic expertise, a unique ability to forge long-standing client relationships, and proven experience of driving transformation and managing technological disruption,” Premji said in a statement.
