UK government spending £7.38 billion on contingent labor

UK government spend on contingent labour rose 4.5% to nearly £7.38 billion in the 2022/23 year, according to a letter from the UK Cabinet Office this past week.

The letter, which was sent to a member of the Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee, was first reported by Civil Service World. It was  sent by Cabinet Office Permanent Secretary Sir Alex Chisholm and Government Chief People Officer Fiona Ryland.

The letter also reported Cabinet Office spend on contingent labour rose 19.9% to £59.1 million in the 2022/23 year.

The letter was in response to a Public Accounts Committee session on 5 February.
