UK – World’s first vegan staffing firm launches

18 July 2019

A staffing firm specialising in helping people find sustainable, ethical and vegan work opportunities has launched in London.

Citizen Kind was founded by Emma Osborne whose experience in staffing includes 12 years spent working with Aspire Recruitment.

The idea to launch Citizen Kind was born out of a sabbatical that Osborne took in 2017 in which she travelled the world and worked in farms and villages across Europe and South America. Her experience working in these countries prompted her to launch a recruitment firm that shared her same values.

According to Eco Business, Osborne’s firm will cater to people who want to work in the sustainability departments of large companies to help “turn the tide”, or for start-ups looking to change consumer behaviour by offering vegan, sustainable or eco-friendly products to consumers.

“Being vegan is still considered an extreme choice even now, and so I wanted to help normalise a compassionate lifestyle by opening up opportunities in sustainable companies to those consciously reducing their impact on the planet,” Osborne said.

She said the company brings “a global perspective and cultural understanding to navigating the complex world of career changes, and senior talent movement.”

The Vegconomist reports that Citizen Kind now counts restaurants, vegan food brands and products, e-commerce companies, investment firms and a charity amongst the growing list of its clients.

The firm said it plans to launch in Asia, Europe and the US by 2020.
