UK – Uber granted right to appeal against landmark tribunal case (The Guardian)

24 April 2017

Ridesharing app Uber has been granted the right to appeal against last year’s landmark tribunal case which ruled that that Uber drivers in the UK should be classified as workers and not self-employed, which entitles them to basic employment rights, reports The Guardian. The appeals tribunal in London set a two-day hearing starting 27 September in which Uber will argue that their drivers are self-employed. The GMB trade union, which supported the lawsuit against Uber, said that it will continue to fight on behalf of the drivers.
