UK – Teacher ranks at the top of most desirable jobs, according to CV-Library

25 June 2018

Teaching is the most desirable job in the UK now, according to data from jobs site CV-Library.

The survey of 1,100 UK workers compiled a list of some of the most popular jobs across the nation. Respondents were then asked to vote for which job they would like to have if there were no qualifications.

The top ten roles were as follows:

  1. Teacher – 18.3%
  2. Designer – 17.1%
  3. Office Manager – 16.8%
  4. IT Technician – 15%
  5. Accountant – 12.8%
  6. Athlete – 12.5%
  7. Mechanical Engineer – 12.3%
  8. Recruiter – 11.7%
  9. Brand Manager – 10.9%
  10. Journalist – 10.7%

CV-Library’s research follows a recent study which found that 54.5% of UK professionals are unhappy in their current role.

Meanwhile, the research also showed that despite 37% of professionals confessing that they would be more likely to take a job that had the word ‘manager’ in the title, 44% agreed that having fun at work and enjoying your job is more important than your salary.

“With the introduction of new technologies and the ever-growing popularity of freelance work, it can often feel like some of the key professions such as healthcare are being disregarded,” Lee Biggins, founder and managing director of CV-Library, said. “Instead, it’s clear that many workers are opting for online roles, such as brand manager, instead.”
