UK – Recruitment firms and rival airlines pledge jobs for axed Thomas Cook staff

24 September 2019

Rival airlines and recruitment firms are offering help to the thousands of Thomas Cook employees who have found themselves without a job after the travel giant announced that it collapsed and ceased trading after failing to secure a last-ditch rescue deal.

Approximately 21,000 staff worldwide could lose their jobs due to the travel giant’s collapse.

Recruitment agency Frontline Recruitment is set to hold Recruitment Open Day on Wednesday 25 September for ex-Thomas Cook employees to try and find them alternative employment, according to The Business Desk.

Frontline staff will be on hand to answer questions about recruitment, talk about temporary jobs currently available and offer support with things like writing or updating a CV.

Several travel recruitment firms have also said they are seeking to help workers affected by the collapse of Thomas Cook, reports The Recruiter.

Meanwhile, Virgin Atlantic is offering jobs to Thomas Cook cabin crew. The company, founded by Sir Richard Branson, has set up a "specific recruitment path" for members of the Thomas Cook cabin crew who have found themselves without a job.

"I would like to apologise to our millions of customers, and thousands of employees, suppliers and partners who have supported us for many years,” Thomas Cook's Chief Executive Peter Fankhauser previously said of the company’s collapse.
