UK – Pret A Manger could face staffing crisis over Brexit (The Evening Standard)

10 March 2017

Pret A Manger, a UK-based sandwich shop chain, could face a staffing crisis after its HR chief revealed that 65% of its staff from outside the UK are EU citizens, reports the Evening Standard. It was also revealed that 1 in 50 applicants for positions at Pret A Manger are British. “If I had to fill all our vacancies in British-only applicants I would not be able to fill them, because of a lack of applications,” Pret A Manger HR Chief Andrea Wareham told the House of Lords economic affairs select committee. Critics have stated that Pret A Manger should make more of an effort to hire British staff, however the company has responded by saying that all nationalities are welcome to apply for its jobs.
