UK – Government announces creation of 200,000 new apprenticeships by 2020 (Telegraph)

25 January 2017

The UK Government has announced today that it plans to create 200,000 new apprenticeships by 2020, reports the Telegraph. The plan for the new apprenticeships, announced by Skills Minister Robert Halfon, is an extension of the apprenticeship programme, which saw more than half a million apprentices begin courses last year. It also follows on the government’s commitment to deliver three million apprenticeships by 2020, which would see 2.3% of the public sector workforce employed under the scheme. The programme also aims to boost services such as the NHS, local government and police forces around the country.
