UK - Gibbs S3 helps contractors understand IR35

31 August 2016

Hybrid workforce solutions provider, Gibbs S3, hosted an event as part of their contractor care programme in order to better inform their contractors about the specific impact of IR35. Gibbs S3 maintains that over one third of contractors stay with them for over five years, in what is usually a high turnover environment.

The piece of legislation has been surrounded by uncertainty, with a general lack of understanding of the impact it may have in a variety of areas. Punam Tiwari, Senior Legal Counsel at Gibbs S3, hosted the event, available to contractors in a wide range of roles gathered to learn how it would affect them.

Punam commented: “The event was a huge success, with it actually being so oversubscribed that people were forced to stand at the back and sit on window ledges.  It was a fantastic opportunity to put the theory into practice by empowering our contractors with a greater understanding of the legal procedure.

“Workforce solutions companies need to offer an all-round service to both contractors and clients, ensuring that they are not just IR35 compliant, but also develop a deeper understanding of the legislation. Events such as this give contractors the opportunity to field a number of really important questions, which get down to the detail and are applicable to specific situations. One of the key considerations is around how subsistence and travel will be affected with the changes. The lasting business value of contractor care is that the professionals enjoy the smooth process from the agency and the end client, who value a stable contractor base and the myriad of business benefits that it brings.”

Punam and Gibbs S3 will be hosting future events to discuss the impact of IR35.
