UK – Contractors in the aviation industry earn on average 22% more than permanent employees

21 February 2017

According to aviation salary survey data from engineering and construction recruitment company Carbon60, contractors in the aviation industry earn, on average, 22% more than permanent employees.

“These are exciting times for aviation,” Managing Director Paul Nolan said. “Salaries are on the up and huge growth is anticipated for the coming years. Our respondents have a positive view of their employers and are overwhelmingly positive about their industry as a whole.”

“Employees might be happy for now, but their companies still need to be cautious,” Nolan said. “Many professionals accept they’re in a tough role and enjoy the challenge and responsibility that it brings. But if the level of pressure continues to increase, you wonder how long it will be before people start to look elsewhere.”

The report, which was based on more than 2,000 responses from aviation professionals, also shows that 86% of responders feel positive about the aviation industry even though 90% of responders either strongly or slightly agree that there is more day-to-day pressure than before.
