Temporary employment in France falls 7.4% in November with declines across the board

The number of temporary workers in France decreased by 7.4% in November 2023 compared to the same period a year ago, according to the latest Prism’emploi barometer.

November was characterised by the most marked decline recorded in 2023, reflecting, after the annual drop in October (-6.3%), a clearer deterioration in the fourth quarter.

All sectors reported a decline. Temporary employment fell year-on-year in construction (-3.3%), services (-6.5%), industry (-8.1%), transport (-8.3%) and commerce ( -12.7%).

Prism’emploi’s data also found that all qualifications reported a decline. Temporary employment fell among managers and intermediate professions (-0.5%), skilled workers (-6.1%), unskilled workers (-9.4%) and employees (-11.3%).

All metropolitan areas are down over the year with all regions recording decreases between -4.0% in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and -10.5% in Nouvelle-Aquitaine.
