Synergie to pay back unpaid wages to workers in Spain (El Diario)

17 August 2023

The Guadalajara Labour Inspectorate in Spain has ordered staffing firm Synergie to pay payroll and contributions that it did not pay to workers in the province, reports El Diario, citing the UGT union. The payments date back to 2021. Synergie has paid back approximately €22,000 in wages and contributions to workers.

The Federation of Services, Mobility and Consumption of UGT Castilla-La Mancha said that Synergie breached a Workers’ Statute. “Workers assigned by an ETT (temporary work agency) to a company are hired for a certain number of hours. If, due to production circumstances, the company that is a client of the temporary worker finally does not have a sufficient workload, these workers cannot be sent home without paying them the wages and social security contributions agreed from the beginning. It is something that is included in the Workers' Statute -in its article 30- and that Synergie is breaching."
