Switzerland – Unemployment rate falls to 2.4% in July

The registered unemployment rate in Switzerland stood at 2.4% in July 2018, down from 3.0% in the same period last year, according to data from the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).

According to Forexlive, the unemployment rate in July was in line with analysts’ expectations.

The end of July 2018, there 106,052 unemployed people enrolled in the Regional Employment Centers in Switzerland, down from 133,926 unemployed registered in the same period last year.

Meanwhile, youth unemployment in July 2018 decreased by 3,856 persons to 11,807, when compared to the same period last year. At the same time, the number of unemployed 50 and over fell by 5,335 persons.

SECO also found that a total of 179,857 jobseekers were registered, a decrease of 15,366 when compared to the same period last year.
