Switzerland – Michael Page Swiss Job Index shows growth in advertised jobs in April

26 April 2017

The Michael Page Swiss Job Index recorded an increase in advertised jobs of 2.1% between March and April 2017. This continues the unbroken positive growth trend in advertised job vacancies since January 2017. The year-to-date growth stands at +9.8% from January to April 2017 and the year-on-year growth rate (April 2016 – April 2017) in advertised jobs reached 30.9%.

The Index showed that advertised jobs grew in three key job categories: IT (8.6%), engineering (7.6%) and social security (6.8%), between March and April 2017. On a year-on-year basis, advertised jobs in social security showed the highest growth rate (37.6%), ahead of that for engineers (32.8%).

Meanwhile, all regions recorded positive growth in advertised job vacancies. The German-speaking region, which accounted for 9 out of 10 advertised jobs, recorded the highest monthly growth (2.1%) ahead of the Swiss Romande (1.5%).

“We’re seeing consistent growth around specialist technical fields, operations and risk management in both permanent and project management roles.  Top candidates in these areas can expect to receive multiple offers,” Nicolai Mikkelsen, Director, Michael Page, said.
