Switzerland – Michael Page Swiss Job Index records increase of 21.5% in February

The number of jobs advertised throughout Switzerland rose by 21.5% in February 2019 when compared to the previous year, according to the Michael Page Swiss Job Index. Between January and February 2019, growth stood at 7.6%. This was the highest growth for this period since the Index began in 2012.

The Swiss Romande region led the growth in advertised jobs with a monthly growth of 12.2%. Advertised jobs in the German speaking region, which accounts for 9 out of 10 advertised jobs, grew by 6.9%.

“We’re seeing an extremely strong start to the year”, Nicolai Mikkelsen, Executive Director, Michael Page, said. “In addition to the seasonal demand for audit, accounting and finance professionals, we see double digit growth across many job categories such as transport and logistics, IT security, as well as credit and risk management.”

The Lake Geneva region (GE, VD, VS), which accounts for two thirds of advertised jobs in the Swiss Romande, recorded the greatest growth with 12.2% and 24.5%, monthly and year-on-year respectively.
