Switzerland – Michael Page Swiss Job Index records increase in job ads of 15.2% in October

The Michael Page Swiss Job Index recorded an increase in advertised jobs of 15.2% in October 2018 when compared to the same period last year.

The Index measures the number of advertised vacancies on company sites throughout Switzerland.

On a month-to-month basis, advertised jobs grew by 2.2% in October. Accountants led the growth in advertised jobs with a monthly increase of 11.4%. Advertised jobs in the German-speaking region, which accounts for 9 out of 10 advertised jobs, grew by 2.2%. At the same time, advertised jobs in the Swiss Romande increased by 2.4%.

Nicolai Mikkelsen, Executive Director, Michael Page commented, “Switzerland is currently experiencing a boost in accounting, financial, taxation advisory and management support roles to help with the year-end requirements and planning for 2019. In addition, demand for specialists across most industries continues to be strong.”

The East region recorded the highest monthly (5.4%) regional growth, followed by Zurich (2.2%).
