Switzerland – Michael Page Swiss Job Index records increase in job ads for August

The number of jobs advertised throughout Switzerland, between July and August 2018, increased by 3.8% across Switzerland, according to the Michael Page Swiss Job Index.

This is the highest growth rate for this period since the Index began in 2012.

The German-speaking region accounted for 9 out of 10 advertised jobs and grew by 4.0% compared with the Swiss Romande which increased by 2.9% in the period between July and August 2018.

Demand for specialists across sales, logistics and transport, IT, facility management and construction was especially strong between July and August.

“The strong growth in sales roles shows the confidence in the Swiss economy from both local and international companies,” Nicolai Mikkelsen, Executive Director, Michael Page, said. “The demand for IT and logistics specialists is strongly driven by companies’ ongoing push for operational efficiencies. Facility management and construction typically show large seasonal growth at this time of the year.”

The Eastern region recorded the highest monthly (8.5%) regional growth in advertised jobs where IT, sales and engineering showed especially strong demand.
