Switzerland – Increase in job offers for August

The Michael Page Swiss Job Index recorded an increase of 18.4% in the number of job offers in Switzerland between August 2015 and August 2016. Over this period, eastern Switzerland posted the strongest growth (+ 33.1% ), followed by Central Switzerland (+ 21.7%).

Between July and August 2016, the average number of jobs nationwide remained almost unchanged (+ 0.1%). Despite stagnating due to the season, Eastern Switzerland showed the strongest growth (3.5%). Over the same period , the number of vacancies in the Geneva area fell by 3.9%

The number of jobs posted during the month for the entire German-speaking part of Switzerland increased slightly ( 0.7%) from the prior month. French-speaking Switzerland recorded a decline in the number of jobs by 4.1 % over the same period.

"We see a growing demand for specialists in export industries such as pharmaceuticals, logistics or IT industry," Charles Franier , Executive Director at Michael Page Switzerland, said. "Companies want to increasingly optimize their processes through ERP / SAP solutions (an enterprise resource planning software). It is noted that just before the seasonal budget, there was an increase in demand for personnel in sales administration."
