Switzerland – EU Commission to agree on deal that approves Swiss plans to hire locals first (Express)

21 September 2016

The European Commission has revealed that it is willing to compromise on Swiss plans to introduce rules that restrict recruitment from abroad and prioritise local workers for jobs, reports the Express.co.uk.

Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the European Commission, said Switzerland could introduce rules restricting recruitment from abroad without being kicked out of the single market. Juncker said he would accept an agreement in which Swiss citizens get first refusal on all job vacancies.

The Swiss government held a referendum in 2014 in which voters demanded an implementation on restrictions for European Union migrants perhaps?. Although Switzerland isn’t a member, citizens of EU states can work and reside in the country without special permission.
