Sweden – NGS Group introduces short-term work for employees amid Covid-19 impact on staff demand

09 April 2020

Sweden-based healthcare and education staffing firm NGS Group AB (NGS: SS) announced that as a result of the outbreak of the coronavirus Covid-19, it has decided to introduce short-term work for approximately 25 employees and has applied for financial support for this in accordance with the amended law applicable from 7 April 2020.

The employees involved are active in the NGS service areas of school staffing as well as recruitment and consulting hiring services where demand has decreased and is expected to decrease due to the effects of the coronavirus. The group added that operations in the first quarter were partly affected by the decreased demand.

“At present, it is uncertain how large the impact will be in the second quarter, due to the uncertainty about the consequences of the pandemic and the restrictions it imposes on society,” the group stated. “NGS care staffing has increased demand but is being challenged by a shortage of staff and increased wage demands. Furthermore, the quarter is affected by the fact that NGS staff working in healthcare are covered by quarantine rules in the event of illness, which contributes to reducing our opportunities to meet the demand of our customers.”

In February, NGS Group reported revenue on Friday for the fourth quarter ended 31 December declined by 16.9% from the year-ago quarter.
