Spanish trade union UGT (General Union of Workers) has filed a class action lawsuit against Barcelona-based human cloud food courier firm Glovo, with the intention of "combating this precarious work system”, reports El Diario. The union says it wants to demonstrate the fraudulent relationship between Glovo and the employees and added that the majority of Glovo’s dismissed workers claim that the company does not act as an "intermediary" and instead imposes its own working conditions. UGT has also set up a union section specialising in platforms such as Glovo and Deliveroo. The trade union says that the section has already registered complaints and questions from more than 1,000 workers from gig economy platforms like Glovo and Deliveroo in relation to their working conditions and their contracts. A trial with Glovo is set to be heard at the National Court.
